Kristin has some friends who very generously lent her their condo on the beach in Gold Coast for a night, so we headed down the coast for the night.
I had no idea what to expect other than a coast… with a beach.
Yeah me! I was right!

I am not exactly clear about where the Coral Sea and the Tasman Sea boundaries are, but off the east coast of Australia, about an hour south of Brisbane is Gold Coast.
The view from the condo, of whatever ocean like body of water the maps call it, was outstanding.
Because of the recent cyclone that hit the northeast coast a few weeks ago, a lot of the sand from the beach was carried out to sea. But there was still a great beach we could walk out onto from the back door of the building.
The balcony doors were opened, and the entire night and day we listened to the active waves crashing on the shore in a hypnotic, soothing rhythm.

I welcomed the leisure and spent my time wandering the beach or simply sitting on the balcony and soaking in the sounds while the others rode bikes around town and explored the city.
Make no mistake, aside from the tranquil views in the ocean direction, Gold Coast is a city. Perhaps not the size of Miami, but the tall buildings and overwhelming new construction adding to the skyline, it is a city beach.

I did venture into the streets for a bit, but for me, exploring buildings was not the magic of this location. The sound of the waves and the view of the sea happily kept my attention.

So, yes, I missed a lot. But I’m okay with that.
