Follow this midlife mess in motion on a 3 month journey to the opposite side of the world
where I plan to sweep out the brain closet and unpack the shenanigans of my inner child.

Engagement gifts: The boy’s family arrives at the girl’s home with an empty bowl and two tubes of bamboo shoots wrapped with a bead necklace symbolizing the attachment of the couple. If the girl agrees to marry, she accepts the tubes, puts the necklace round her neck and fills the bowl with rice for her in-law family.
A silver bracelet unifying the 2 straws at the recall for the souls of the married couple at the wedding (sticks) and a gift tray used at the wedding.

Typewriter used by Mrs Ngo Ba Thanh, President of the Women’s Committee for the Right to Live in Peace and Dignity. She wrote practical pamphlets, letters to the American President and spoke out against the war.
Wedding gifts: The groom’s family offers 3 jars of alcohol, a machete, and a small hoe to ask for happiness & prosperity for the couple. The brides family offers the couple 2 bracelets, 2 rings and 1 necklace to the groom’s family.
Sword used at the wedding of Y Phang. A stone used for the foot washing ritual before entering a bride’s in-law’s home. An Agate necklace used at the engagement and the copper box used to collect agate necklaces from the groom’s family for the engagement.
Sewing kit and American Parachute blanket. General’s hat of Nguyen Thi Dinh. Mug presented to Nguyen Thi Dinh by Southern Liberation Army’s engineering workshop. A ring made from the 3000th American plane brought down in northern Vietnam. A gift for Nguyen Thi Dinh from teh women of Quang Binh.

The Third Dame is considered to represent the third Mother Goddess wearing a white robe which identifies her with the Palace of Water.
